Global health market demand and supply in cervical cancer prevention products: an overview of product accessibility in low- and middle-income countries

  • Objective To explore the supply and demand of the global market for cervical cancer prevention products, analyze the current situation and challenges in the supply of vaccines and diagnostic tools in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), and focus on the roles and contributions of China′s companies in the global market.
Methods Through comprehensive analysis of existing literature, industry reports, and public data from 2019 to 2025, this study systematically explored the global demand for HPV vaccines, the global supply of diagnostic tools, and the current distribution of public health resources in LMICs.
Results By 2021, the global demand for HPV vaccines was 45.5 million doses, while the supply was only 15 million doses, with a 67% shortage. The global demand is expected to reach 120 million doses by 2030. The vaccine coverage in LMICs was significantly lower than that in high-income countries, with only 39% of LMICs including HPV vaccines in their national immunization programs. Chinese companies have improved the affordability and accessibility of vaccines through the development of innovative vaccines and cold chain technologies.
Conclusions The global cervical cancer prevention market suffers from an obvious supply-demand imbalance, with LMICs facing great challenges. Chinese companies are making a positive contribution to reducing global health disparities by providing high-quality affordable products. This effort supports the implementation of the WHO′s global strategy to eliminate cervical cancer and is essential for the achievement of global public health goals.
