Study on Distributable Characteristic and Risk Factors of Military Tranining Injury in Army

  • Three Military units of Shenyang Command had been chosen and the circumstance of Military Training Injury had been observed form Jan to Dec in 1991.The population selected for study included 2180 soldiers of 3 regiments. All of them took part in military training.A questionnaire was designed to document the injury type, distributable characteristics, and potential risk fators. Both cases and controls were directly inquired by investigators to complete similar questionnaires.Cases were defined as soldiers who injured in military training.Controls were defined as uninjured soldiers. The results show as following:①370 among 2180 soldiers injured. The rate of MTI was 17.0%.②The peak senson of the rate of MTI was in Spring, then Summer, and Winter the lowest.③Incidence rate of injuries of infantry unit ws 21.0%,significantly higher than that of other units.④Among various types of injuries, close soft tissue injuries were the most common, which took up 78.1% of the total, the skin tearing wounds and bruises was 11.4%,fracture was 8.6% and other wounds 1.9%.⑤The pelvic limbs were 61.1%,the thoracic limbs were 23.8%.⑥There were 286 cases and 179 controls.36 characteristics of cases and controls were compared by univariate analysis.Cases differed significantly from controls in 7 of the 36 variables:bad sleep, carelessness, nervousness, absence of preparing activities, not following the law of from the easy to the difficult, unskillfulness about the action and the poor organization.Except not follwong the law of from the easy to the difficult, the other factors had significanty differences by means of the logistic regression.
