Report on Content of Heavy Metal in 198 Shellfish Cases Surveyed in Macau

  • Objective To assess content of heavy metal in shellfish sold in Macau.Methods One hundred and ninety-eight shellfish cases were selected in Macau markets and restaurants,and heavy metals' mercury,lead,cadium,chromium,arsenic and antimony were tested.Results The rate of non-qualified crab sample is significant higher than bivalue shell and univalue shell(P< 0101);Except mercury and antimony,heavy metals were out of the maximum permission level in individual sample;Proportion rates of non-qualified cadium,which were highest than the other non-qualified heavy metals,were 53%,14% and 11% in crab,bivalue and univalue shell respectively.Conclusion Enforce safety certificate and quarantine analysis,restrict waste water from industries polluted river in order to protect the eaters' health.
