Color Discrimination and Urinary Metabolites among the Workers Exposed to Carbon Disulfide

  • Objective To explore color vision effect CS2 and urinary metabolites on exposed workers. Methods The Color discrimination of the subjects was deter mined by the Far nsworth Munsell 100-HUE test(FM100-HUE).Urinary excretion of 2 -thio-thiazolidine-4-carboxilic acid(TTCA)in wor kers by the end of work shift was analyzed with modified high-performance liquid chromatography.Results(1)The FM100-HUE color vision score did occurred sig nificantly more often in the exposed group than among the referents, the discr imination to the green and blue zone were also impaired significantly(P<0.01).(2)In CS2 group, urinary TTCA of men was higher than that of women. The discr imination to the green zone was decline with the increas of TTCA excretion from 10 to 15 years to exposed CS2.Conclusion The color vision was disturbed in workers exposed to CS2,the FM100-HUE can be used as a sensitive indicator for the color vision effects of carbon disulfide.
