Random Sampling Study on Bone Mineral Density of General Population in Part of China

Objective To investigate the normal references of bone mineral density(BMD)and provide important basis of diagnosis and treatment for osteoporosis.Methods Using Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry(DEXA),the bone mineral density was meaured among 2 331 general population aged above 20 years old in part of China by the method of random sampling.Results The normal references of bone mineral densities and peak bone values in lumbar spine and proximal femur by sex and age were found.Conclusion The treatment references of BMD for screening patients and the diagnosis references of BMD for osteoporosis were concluded.
