Study on Mental Health Status and Overuse Injury of Recruits

Objective To study the relation of mental health status and overuse injury of recruits(OUI) during basic training.Methods The Symptom checklist 90(SCL-90) was used to evaluate the health state of recruits.Scores of bodized symptom,anxiety,psychosis of recruits notability was higher than the model of youths(P<0.05).Results The score of bodized symptom of cities recruits was higher than that of the villages,the others factor scores was similar in two groups.The scores of bodized symptom,paranoia and total scores of upwards senior high school was higher than the scores of under junior high school(P<0.05).The scores of bodized symptom,depression,phobia and total scores in the OUI group was higher than the non-injury groups(P<0.05).The OUI incidence(30.8%) in mental problem group was higher than in group of non-problem(20.9%) and difference was distinct(P0.05),RR =1.69(98% CI =1.02-2.81).Conclusion After enrollmemt,it must strengthen mental health education and popularize mental knowledge in recruits and improvement their mental stuff during military trainig so that they could adapt the army living and decrease incidence of training injury.
