Paired Study on Effect of Manganese on Liver and Cardiovascular Functions among Exposed Workers

  • ObjectiveTo understand the effect of manganese exposure on liver and cardiovascular functions.MethodsSerum TPR,ALB,ALT,AST,TTT,ChE,heartbeat,ECGand blood pressure of 15 exposed workers and 15 contr ol subjects were examined in the present investigation.Data collected were analyzed by SPSS software in microcomputer for paired design.ResultsThe geometric mean of air MnO2 level was 0.25(0.09-1.04)mg/m3.The heartbeat of the female of exposed workers was sig nificantly slower than that of the female of control workers. The mean of systolic blood pressure of the male of exposed workers was significantly higher than that of the male of control workers. There were no significant differences in the other indices of car diovascular and liver functions between the exposed and the control groups.ConclusionThe present findings suggested that the workers.cardiov ascular function could be affected by low level manganese exposure.
