Effects of Family Environment on Behavior Problems of School-age Children

  • Objective To probe into the effects of family environment on behavior problems in school-age children.Methods Behavior problems and family environment of 2187 children aged 6-11years were investigated with Family Environment Scale-Chinese Version and Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist,and then multiple regression and correlation analyses were performed.Results The factors influencing boys included conflict,intellectual cultural orientation,organization,achievement orientation and cohesion.The factors influencing girls included conflict,intellectual cultural orientation,cohesion and control.The effects of family environment on the boys were different from those on girls.Conclusion To reduce the rate of behavior problems in school-age children,the importance of family environment must be emphasized and the difference between male and female children should be paid.
