Detection of Serum Specific IgE for Humulus and Chenopodium Pollens with BSA-ELISA

  • Objective To improve the accuracy of etiologic diagnosis of asthma caused by the pollens of humulus and chenopodium. Methods Serum sIgE of humulus and chenopodium was measured with BSAELISA in 62 cases with asthma and 30 healthy controls, and the results were compared with that of ID.Results The positive rate of ID and specific IgE for humulus and chenopodium were all over 45%.The coincident positive and negative rate in the results of ID were both over 85%.The mean number of specific IgEOD index was also much higher than that of controls(P<0.01);The positve rate of ID was 6.7% in controls, but none of them was positive for sIgE.Conclusion The pollens of humulus and chenopodium were important inhalant allergens causing asthma in Xi'an area.High serum level of sIgE was found in those who were allergic to humulus and chenopodium with strong allergnicity.Detections for the ID and sIgE especially with BSAELIDA were reliable methods in the diagnosis of allergic asthma caused by humulus and chenopodium pollens.
