Effect of Procyanidins on Antioxidation Ability of Humanbody

  • Objective To study the protective effect of grape procyanidins(GPC) on oxidation injury of human body.Methods The vein blood samples were taken from 12 healthy young women respectively before and after they were given GPC (120mg/day/one) for 2 weeks.Each sample was divided into two parts which were oxidized by Fenton system and nonoxidized,and 5 items including active oxygen,SOD,MDA,oxLDL and DNA injury were examined.Results The levels of MDA and DNA injury of the nonoxidized samples before and after the experiment were lower than the oxidized and those of the oxidized samples after the experiment were 20.1%and 28.7% lower than the before.All the differences above were significant (P<0.05).Conclusion GPC can improve the human antioxdation ability and had good protective effect on oxidation injury.
