Abstract
Objective To study the status of the quality of life(QOL)in the elderly of Beijing urban areas.Methods Totally,360 permanent residents aged over 60 years were randoml selected to be interviewed using WHOQOL-BREF.Results 86.9% of the elderly's QOL is above medium level.Evaluation marks by self is higher than that by calculation according to the WHOQOL-BREF.The prevalence of chronic and non-communicable dieases is 48.1%.The prevalence of hypertension,heart disease,and diabetes are 21.7%,13.8%,6.9% respectively.As much as 62.5% of the elderly need medical care,86.11% of the elderly satisfied with medical service.Conclusion Most of the the elderly of Beijing urban areas have higher QOL.Chronic and non-communicable diseases are one of the major influential factors of the elderly.The elderly need more medical care.
