Objective To explore the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)in the promoter of angiotensinⅡ type 1 receptor(AT1R)gene and hypertension in Mongolian people.
Methods On basis of prevalence study, a case-control study with 299 hypertensives and 281 nomotensives was conducted, and the polymorphisms at positions-2 228, -214(-213), -153 in the promoter region were detected by restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR/RFLP)and singlestrand conformation polymorphism(PCR/SSCP), χ2 test was used to analyze the differences of genotype frequencies and allele frequencies between cases and controls.
Results The AT1R genotype distributions were all compatible with Hardy-Weinberg expectations. There were no significant differences to be found between cases and controls for genotype frequencies or allele frequencies at positions-2 228 G/A, -214A/C(-213 G/C)and-153A/G of AT1R gene.
Conclusion Present study could not ascertain the association between SNPs in the promoter region of AT1R gene and hypertension in Mongolian people.
