Effect of acrylamide on immune function in mice

  •   Objective   To study acrylamide induced immune function effects in mice.
Methods   Male and female mice were treated orally with 25 mg/kg cyclophosphamide and administrated orally with acrylamide in different doses of 0(controls), 15, 35, 70 mg/kg respectively for 4 weeks. The spleen and thymus organ coefficients, the level of IgG, IgA and IgM in the serum, lymphoroliferation response and cock red blood cell phago cytosis were tested.
Results   There were significant reduction(P < 0.01)in the spleen and thymus or ganic coefficients, the level of IgG, IgA and IgM in the serum and the A values of splenic lymphocyte. The significant reductions were also found in the rate of phagocy tosis and the index of phagocytosis.
Conclusion   Acrylamide is definitely toxic to immune organs, humoral immunity, cellualr immunity and non specific immunity in mice.
