Relationship between PLA2G4B gene polymorphism and schizophrenia

  •   Objective   To investigate a genetic relationship between PLA2G 4B gene polymorphism and schizophrenia in the Han people of northern China.
Methods   PCR-RFLP was conducted to examine the genotype of PLA2G4B gene in samples of 238 trios including the schizophrenia patients, their healthy fat her and mother. Then the analysis of haplotype relative risk test(HRR)and TDT was conducted to deal with the data statistically.
Results   The genotypic frequency of PLA2G4B gene and they did not deviate from Hardy-weinberg equilibrium in both case and control groups; HRR did not show a significant difference in the allelic(A and G)and genoty pic(AA, AG and GG)frequency of PLA 2G4B gene between the case and the control(χ 2=21.610, P=0.125;χ 2=0.965, P=0.617);TDT analysis suggested that the possibility of the two different alleles transmited from the heterozygotic parents didn't deviate from 50%(χ 2=21.439, P=0.118).
Conclusion   The PLA2G4B gene may be not the susceptible gene of schizophrenia.
