Objective To investigate effects of phospholipase A 2 on hepatocarcinogenesis, ρ-bromophenacylbromide(BPB), one of inhibitors of phospholipase A 2, was observed on procedure from preneoplastic foci into nodules in rat liver.
Methods Inducing preneoplastic liver foci, then rats bearing foci were given diets containing 0.75%, 1.5% BPB with or without 0105% Phenobarbital (PB), 0.05% PB alone and basal diet for 9 weeks.Liver slices made GGT staining and HE staining.
Results Both doses BPB either with or without PB, significantly decreased the numbers of persistent nodules and hyperplastic nodules.
Conclusion Both doses BPB inhibited the evolution of preneoplastic foci into nodules in rat liver with or without PB exposure, suggesting that phospholipase A 2 involves in hepatocarcinogenesis in rats.
