Objective To study on the metabolites of Dimetridazole(DMZ)in the incurred chicken tissue, and to explore the possible existence of parent drug, free metabolites and bound residues.
Methods The tissues were hydrolyzed by enzyme and chemicals to release residues, then extracts were explored by HPLC-ESI-MS.
Results Residues including free parent drug DMZ(m/z 141), major hydroxylated free metabolite DMZOH(m/z 157)and a minor demethylated free emtabolite 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole (m/z 127)were confirmed in the chicken muscle, which were collected within twelve hours after the chickens were stopped to be administered with DMZ.However, no evidence was obviously obtained for glucuronide and sulfated conjugations.
Conclusion DMZOH was the major metabolite for DMZ, the bound residues were not be identified.
