Analysis on mental health of elderly with diabtic and its related factors

  Objective   To study the mental health of the elderly with diabetic and its related factors.

  Methods   100 eldrly with diabetic and 186 health elderly were investigated and analyzed by Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90), Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ).

  Results   The patients with diabetic were in worse mental health status than the health contrasting group.It was related to many factors.Stepwise regression indicated that sex, aged, occupation, education, children social support total score, impobjective support, EPQ-E, and EPQ-N were major factors.

  Conclusion   Reinforcing mental health serv ices would be important to prevention and treatment of the elderly with diabetic the services for mental health.
