Investigation on knowledge and prevalence of AIDS among floating population

  Objective   To understand the status of knowledge, behavior feature and prevalence about AIDS.And to provide scientific evidence for establishing intervention model and conducting popularization and behavior intervention targeting floating population.

  Methods   Two districts were selected by random clustered sampling in Yuzhong and Jiulongpo district respectively.Floating population in these districts were interviewed by face to face.All data were analyzed by software 12.0.

  Results   Atotal of 2 047 floating population were interviewed.The male were 1 327 and the female were 720.The average age was(35.4±10.3)years old.They had high recognition about AIDS three kinds of transmission routes, its rate was about 70%, but they had poor knowledge about AIDS non-marital sex, drug use and homosexual.The rate of condom use was low.The prevalence of syphilis and HIVwas 0.6% and 0.15% respectively.

  Conclusion   Poor education and knowledge about AIDS, poor awareness of medication, counselling and test, high risk behavior and low rate of condom use will accelerate AIDS spread and epidemic among migrant workers.
