Analysis on knowledge, attitude and features of risk behavior about AIDS among floating population

  Objective   To understand the status of knowledge, attitude and features of risk behavior among floating population and provide scientific evidence for conducting the study of AIDS intervention model.

  Methods   Floating population in two streets area sampled by clustered sampling were investigated by face-to-face with consent with the structured-questionnaire.All data were entered by software Epidata 3.02 and analyzed by software SPSS 12.0.

  Results   Atotal of 400 floating population entered this study.The male were 210(52.5%)and the female were 190(47.5%).The average age was(29.1±10.2)years old.Floating population had high level recognition about three transmission routes of AIDS, and its rate was above 80%.But the recognition of non transmission routes of AIDS was poor.The major routes of acquiring knowledge about AIDS were magazine, newspaper, broadcast and TV, IECmaterials and counseling from doctors.64.5% of them never use condom during sex with regular sexual partners.The reason of no condom use with regular partners included never use due to trust each other and his or her dislike condom use.Just 14.1% of them had condom use every time during sex with casual partners.The top reason of no condom use was uncomfortable with condom use during sex.

  Conclusion   Poor knowledge about AIDS, multiple sexual partners and low rate of condom use will accelerate HIVspread and epidemic among floating population.It is urgent to strengthen AIDS health education and behavior intervention, advocate safe behavior, promote condom use to curb AIDS spread and epidemic among floating population.
