Survey on condom use and persistence among currently married men

  •   Objective   To investigate the utilization of condom and its persistence among currently married men, and explore related factors.
      Methods   Population Proportional to Size sampling method was emplo yed in sampling.The sampled men were interviewed face to face with uniform questionnaire during the period of time from November 2005 to December 2005.
      Results   The proportion of men who knew that condom could prevent HIVinfection was 89.3%.The current contraceptive rate was 84.5%, and condom accounted for 14.3% among all men currently using contraceptives.The purpose using condom was mainly for controlling birth, accounting for 84.2%, the main reason for not using condom was because of alr eady using o ther contraceptive method.The proportion of men who would continue to use condom if lethim reselect at current time was 66.4%.Log istic analysis showed that the persistence with condom was mainly affected by current feeling of using it, men who were satisfied with condom were more likely to continue to use it.
      Conclusion   The knowledge about condom had increased gr eatly, but the utilization of and persistence with condom was still unsatisfactory, more efforts should be strengthened to transform knowledge into practice and incr ease satisfaction with condom to promote condom use widely and correctly.
