Effect of lead on NOS activity and NO content in hippocampus of mice

  •   Objective   To study the different concentrations of lead effect on the activity of Nitric Oxide Synthase(NOS) and the content of Nitric Oxide(NO)in hippocampus of mice.
      Methods   Chronic acetic lead contaminant was applied on mice (2.4, 4.8, 9.6 mmol/L), and pups were killed at 7, 14, 28, 42 drespectively.The activity of NOS and the content of NO were measured.
      Results   Compared with control group, the activity of NOS and the content of NO were downtrend in the hippocampus of chronic lead exposure mice at 14, 28, 42 drespectively; the activity of NOS increased significantly at 7 d(P < 0.05).The activity of NOS of 4.8, 9.6 mmol/L group was significantly lower than that of control group at 28, 42 d(P < 0.05).The content of NO of chronic lead exposure group was significantly lower than that of control group at 28, 56 d(P < 0.05).
      Conclusion   The changes of NOS activity and NO content maybe one of the molecule mechanisms of lead-poisoned.
