Serum epidemiological survey of hepatitis E virus infection among swine, rats and dogs in Guangxi

  • Objective To investigate hepatit is Evirus(HEV)infection in swine, rats and dogs in Liuzhou of Guangxi. Methods Anti-HEV IgG was detected in ser a of swine, rats and dogs by an enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay (ELISA),which was developed using the synthetic pept ides derived from genotype 1 HEV ORF2 and ORF3 sequences. Results T he total anti-HEV IgG positive rate was 31.84%(170/534)from all animals tested.Anti-HEV IgG positive rates of swine, rats and dogs were 26.40%(66/250),43.02%(77/179)and 25.71%(27/105)respectively.Conclusion Swine, rats and dogs could be infected by HEV,and the prevalence rate of anti-HEV IgG was the highest in rats.
