Investigation on attitude and influence elements of elders’ non-familial support

  • Objective To clear the attitudes of the elders aged 65 years and over to institutionalization and its influential factors in Fuzhou.Methods Residents aged 65 years and above living in Taijiang,Gulou and Cangshan of Fuzhou were selected to be inter viewed by stratified cluster sampling.Results 61.6% of the elders approved of institutionalization,and women more agreed with that than men.Employ ment,economy status,life style,etc were the sig nificant influential factors.A mong the elders who approved of institutionalization,63.8% were inclined to well-conditional and expensiv e rest home,o thers were inclined to hypo-qualified and cheap rest home.Conclusion In order to attract more old people and meet their needs,caring institutes for different levels should be developed.
