Effects of fructus lycii on learning and memory of D-galactose induced aging mice

Objective To investigate the effects of fructus lycii on aging mice induced by D-galactose(D-gal).Methods With the model of aging mice induced by D-gal,learning and memory ability of mice was measured by step down test,the activity of AchE in braintissue was determined,the contents of SOD and M DA were determined by xanthine oxidation or TBA colorimetry,the variations of above indices of mice after treatment with fructusly cii juice were obser ved.Results Compared with model mice,after receiving fructus lycii juice,the ability of both learning and memo ry and the activities of A chE and SOD in brains increased significantly,while the contents of MDA in brains,decr eased obviously(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusion The fructus lycii can remarkably improve the learning and memor y function of D-galactose induced aging mice,the mechanism of which may be related to the fructus lycii's effects of antioxy gen free radical.
