Abstract
ObjectiveTo study the influence of canthax anthin on the antio xidantive function of D-galactose induced agingrat.MethodsTo cause aging,Wistar rats were given injections of D-galactose for 5 months. Then they were randomly divided in four groups, including model group,low-does canthaxanthin group,middle-does canthaxanthin group and high-does canthax anthin group whose the content of malonic aldehy de(MDA)and the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and glutathione perox idase(GSH-Px)of different viscera(liver, kidney, heart, brain, prostates, etc)were tested and compared.ResultsCompared with model group, the content of MDA in the canthax anthin group had statistical significance and to be significantly decreased(P<0.01).However,the activity of SOD and GSH-Px had statistical significance and to be significantly raised(P<0.001).ConclusionCanthax anthin can increase antiox idantive function of rat to stay D-galactose induced consenescence.
