Epidemiological analysis on bacillary dysentery in Hubei pnovince from 1996 to 2005

ObjectiveTo understand the prev alence factors of bacillary dysentery in Hubei province and to explore the corresponding prevention and control measures.MethodsThe data of epidemic situation and field investigation of bacillary dysentery during 1996 and 2005 in Hubei was analy zed.ResultsThe annual average incidence rate of bacillary dysentery was 40.89/100000 and the average mortality rate was 0.02/100000 from 1996~2005.The average fatality rate was 0.06%.The incidence peak was from July to September with children as the major risk population and seco ndly the peasants.Male patients were more than female.ConclusionThe incidence rate of bacillary dysentery descended gently from 1996~2005 with scattered children and young peasants as the high risk population.It was necessary to enhance the management of the sanitation of food and drinking water for the population from school and construction site.
