Transient evoked otoacoustic emissions in diagnosis of occupational noise-induced hearing loss

  • Objective To elucidate the applications of transicent evoked otoacoustic emissions(TEOAE)in diagnosis of occupational noise-induced hearing loss. Methods The pure tone thresholds and TEOAE were measured in 93 workers exposed to noise for along term as well as 93 normal persons as control group. Results The pur-etone hear ing thresholds of the workers were sig nificantly different from thoses of control, particularly voice frequency(P<0.05)and high frequency(P<0.01)threshold.Repetit ion rate, amplitude, and SNR of TEOAE in overall and every frequency decreased, especially in 2.5~3.5 and 3.5~4.5 kHz in the workers than those in the control(P<0.05).Conclusion Occupational noise-induced hearing loss can be diagnosed and evaluated by TEOAE.
