Analysis on high risk behavior of needle sharing and its influence factors among drug abusers

  • Objective To explore high risk behaviors of needle sharing and its influence factors among male drug abusers in Zhuhai.Methods A cross2sectional survey was conducted among 397 male drug abusers with anonymous questionnaire inquiring about HIV/AIDS relevant knowledge,attiude,and behaviors.Results Of 397 drug abusers,306(77.1%)persons were injecting drug users(IDUs).Among IDUs,40.8%(125/306)reported sharing needle with others in the past month before entering detoxification center.The results of multiple Logistic regrseeion indicated that native place,the scores of attitude on HIV/AIDS,daily times of injecting drugs and times of using syringes were the influence factors of needle sharing.Conclusion Needle sharing was a serious health problem among male drugabusers in Zhuhai,and was affected by mutliple factors.
