Survey on situation of metabolic syndrome in residents of Dongliu community of Ningbo

Objective To estimate the prevalence of metabolic syndrome(MS)according to the iternational diabetes federation consensus world wide definition in 2005.Methods 676 subjects including 271 males and 405 females were enrolled in this study.Blood pressure,TG、TC、HDL-C,WHR,insulin and blood glucose were collected and BMI was calculated.Results The morbidity of MS increased with aging,the prevalences of metabolic syndrome,diabetes mellitus,hy pertension and dyslipidemia were 18.9%,9.0%,49.0% and 45.1% respectively.Conclusion A large proportion of Ningbo adults have metabolic syndrome,MS should be prevented and treated actively in our clinical work urgently.
