Abstract
Objective To examine the status of health-related behaviors in minority residents in Guizhou province for providing evidences for valid health education and health promotion measures.Methods Seven hundred and twenty-two subjects aged 15 years or elder of minority Miao,Gelao,Dong and Buyi were surveyed.A questionnaire was used to collect information on health-related behaviors including smoking,alcohol drinking,drinking un-boiled water,measuring blood pressure or not,seeking health-related information and seeing doctors within 2 weeks after being sick.Results There were significant differences in health-related behaviors between the national minority and Han nationality(chi-square=3.888~83.895,P=0.049~ 0.000).The prevalence of smoking and dinking in the minority male were higher than the female.Significant differences also can be seen in smoking,drinking and seeking health-related information among different education levels and ages(chi-square=10.65~ 92.79,P=01014~0.000),and among different age(chi-square=11.00~72148,P=0.012~0.000).Conclusion The status of health-related behaviors among minority residents was generally poor.It was urgent to reinforce education and health education to improve health-related behaviors in minority area.
