Relationship between family environment and mental health among high school students

  • ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between high school students' family environment and mental health and to provide bases and directions for mental health education.MethodsA total of 320 high school students from 3 middle schools in Xican were tested with FES-CV and MHT.The data was analyzed by SPSS 11.5.ResultsThe significant differences between high school students and norms in cohesion,intellectual cultural or ientation,active recreation or ientation,organization and conflict were found.The significant sex differences in cohesion and control were found.The significant grade differences in cohesion and conflict were found.The significant sex differences in study anxiety,terror tendency and lonely tendency were found.The cohesion,intellectual cultural orientation,active recreation orientation,organization were correlated negatively with mental health in several dimensions(r=0.118~0.326)and the conflict was correlated positively with mental health in several dimensions(r=0.151~0.341,P<0.01).Organization,cohesion,active recreation orientation and conflict predicted high school students' mental health significantly(R2=0.225,0.179,0.339,0.279).ConclusionThe family environmenthas evidentinfluence on high school students.mental health.
