Analysis on negative emotion and influential factors of spouses loss

ObjectiveTo explore the health status of the spouses loss and its influential factors.MethodsUsing cluster random sampling method,the spouses loss was investigated in 3 blocks of some district in Wuhan in 2005 to measure their anx iety degree and personality,with MMPI,Depression and Manifest Anxiety Scale,and JEPI(for adults 3.5).ResultsThe degree of anxiety and depression of the spouses loss group was higher than that of control group.The difference was significant,and the level of depression was proportional to degree of anxiety.Negative emotions had relation to personality,health status,loneliness life events,sex and age,etc.ConclusionThe spouses loss population is easily to be anxious and depressed.Reducing the mental stress and increasing the social support are important for preventing the widowed from depressed emotions.
