Analysis on STDs and related factors among female sex workers(FSWs) in entertainment businesses

Objective To survey prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases(STDs)and factors related to STDs among female sex workers(FSWs)working in entertainment businesses.Methods To provide outreach and clinic STD serviees for FSWs regularly.Self-administrated anonymous surveys and half-format surveys were carried out.Data were analyzed with SPSS10.0.Results 258 questionnaires were collected from FSWs.Their average age was 22.13(15～45).The average age having the first sex was 17.76(15～22).53.07% of them had sex intercourse with their clients during their menstruation.75.19% suffered STDs and 63.57% suffered STDs the Last year.Multivariate unconditional Logistic regression analysis found the time-space for sex work and sex intercourse during their menstruation were main factors affecting STDs prevalance.The relative risks were 3.51 and 2,47,95% confidence intervals(CI)were 1.61～7.60 and 1.00～6.09 respectively.Conclusion Prevalence of different STDs among the FSWs in Qingdao is high and there are high risk behaviours related to STDs/HIV/AIDS.It is necessary to early out effective strategies for control STDs/HIV/AIDS of FSWs in STD services.
