A study on functional prognosis and influential factors of ischemic stoke

  • Objective To observe the functional prognosis and to analyze the influence factors in ischemic stroke cases. Methods Ischemic stroke cases in the neurology department in one hospital were retrospectively collected from January 2005 to June 2006 continuously. These cases were followed up through phone or mail. The mRS(modified Ranhin Scale)score was the index of primary outcome. The influence factors on functional prognosis were analyzed by monovariant and multivariant logistic regression. Results 267 cases were collected,129 of which did not meet the inclusion criteria,3 cases had missing data.8 cases(5.8%)were lost.Thus,130 cases were included in the analysis. The result of multi-variantlogistic reg ression showed that the poor outcome was associated with older age(OR=4.35;95%CI=1 17~16.22),higher educational level (OR=0.69;95%CI=0.57~0.83),having stro ke history(OR=4.21;95%CI=1.03~17.22),and higher NIHSS total scores(OR=2.18;95%CI=1.65~2.88).Conclusion the results suggested that older age, having stroke history, and higher NIHSS total scores were influence factors of functional outcome of ischemic stroke.
