Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of the comprehensive nutritional intervention and education on nutrition -related knowledge. Methods Bone density of 185 middle aged and aged women volunteers' side vertebrae(L2~4)was detected by using dual energy x-ray absorptionmetry. The subjects were divided into 3 groups randomly according to subjects' age and the levels of bone density.Group A was supplemented with daily 500 mg calcium,200 IU vitamin D3,90 mg soybean isoflavones, and was educated with nutrition-related knowledge.Group B was taught with nutrition-related knowledge while the control group did not. Results The average of bone density of the side vertebrae(L2~4)in group A increased by 3.35% while group B rose by 1.71%.However,the control group decreased by 4.75%.The variation of bone density between experimental group and control group has a significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion The comprehensive nutritional intervention and nutrition-related knowledge have significant effects on preventing and improving the conditions of osteoporosis in middle aged and aged women.
