Correlation between mental health and family environment in poor college students

  • ObjectiveTo study the cor relation between mental health and family environment in poor college students and provide substantial evidence for advancing their mental health and improving family environment.Methods485 poor college students and 496 non-poor students in Hunan Agricultural University were investigated by applying SCL-90 and FES-CV.ResultsThe scores of SCL-90 for compulsion,depression,sensitivity,hostility,psychoticis of poor college students were significantly higher than that of the non-poor students.Compared to non-poor students,the FES-CV scores of poor students were significantly lower in cohesion and entertainment,but significantly higher in conflict,dependence,achievement or ientation.There were significant negative correlation between the scores of cohesion,expressiveness,intellectual or ientation,entertainment,moral-religious emphasis,organization in FES-CV and the score of every factor in SCL-90.Significant positive correlation was found between the score of conflict and the score of every factor in SCL-90.ConclusionPoor students'mental health is not good and affected by family environment.
