Relationship between maximal oxygen uptake and fitness index of cardiac function and physical work capacity of male college students

  • ObjectiveTo measure the maximal oxygen uptake(VO2max),the fitness index of cardiac function and the physical work capacity(PWC170)and analyze the change of VO2max and related factors.MethodsThrough measuring the change of heart rate of the 322 male college students, two steps exercise testing method was used to calculate the value of fitness index of cardiac function and PWC170 according to formulas.ResultsThe mean VO2max of the 322 male college students was(43.41±3.68)ml·min-1·kg-1.The mean fitness index of cardiac function was(99.19±14.10)and the mean PWC170 was(940.82±188.07)kg·m/min.Based on different groups of the VO2max,we found that the fitness index of cardiac function and the PWC170 rose with the increasing of the VO2max.Moreover,the subjects were divided into two groups by VO2max.One was<44 ml·min-1·kg-1 and the other was≥44 ml·min-1·kg-1.The fitness index of cardiac function and the PWC170 were compared between the two groups, both of them had significant difference(P<0.01).ConclusionThe fitness index of cardiac function and the PWC170 of male college students are closely related to the VO2max.The fitness index of cardiac function and the PWC170 rise with the increasing of the VO2max.And therefore,it is of great significance to improve the college students'body constitution through increasing the level of VO2max.
