Investigation of internet addiction among pupils in Taizhou City

Objective To explore correlative factors of internet addiction disorder(IAD)in pupils.Methods Cluster sampling was employed and the pupils were investig ated with questionnaire anony mously in their classroom.The score of internet attachment(SIA)was calculated.Multi-linear regression was used to explore the factors influencing the value of the SIA.Results The sample consisted of 1952 g rade four pupils of six primary schools from three urban of Taizhou.1947 eligible questionnaires were included in the analysis.The prevalence of IAD in the subjects was 4.9% with a higher prevalence in the male (7.6%)than in the female(2.0%)(χ²=32.461,P<0.01).Multi-linear regression analysis suggested that male,family possessing computer,some friends enjoy ing surfing in internet,the time of using computer since first time,sensitivcity,anxiety,absent-minded,liking colorful snack and charbroiled food were risk factors(P<0.05).A better time management ability was protected factor(P<0.01).Conclusion Male,time management ability and other 10 factors are possible influencing factors of IAD.
