Abstract
Objective To observe the effects of lowpower microwave on serum testosterone, serum cholesterol and sexual function of male mice. Methods 48 adult male mice were randomized into 3 exposure groups and 1 control group. The exposure groups were exposed to 900 MHz microwave(250μW/cm2,150μW/cm2,50μW/cm2,24 h/d,3415 d).Capture incubation period(CIP),capture times(CT),serum testosterone, serum cholesterol were used to evaluate effects of the lowpower microwave. Results CIP was significantly increased in exposure group(150μW/cm2)compared with that of the normal control(P<0.05).Serum testosterone, serum cholesterol of exposed groups were significantly decreased compared with that of the normal control(P<0.05,respectively).In microwave exposure group(250μW/cm2)serum cholesterol was significantly decreased compared with the normal control(P<0105).Conclusion Low-power microwave radiation(150μW/cm2)can influence the level of serum testosterone, and further impact the sexual function of male mice through affecting the serum cholesterol.
