Study on immune effect of Sj26 and Sj23 gene transfered dendritic cells against Schistosoma japonicum

  • Objective To explore the effect of Sj26 and Sj23 gene transfered dendr itic cells(DC)ag ainst the infection of Schistosoma japonicum. Methods BAL B/c mice were immumized three times with Sj26 and Sj23 genetransfered DC,Sj26 gene transfered DC,Sj23 gene transfered DC,plasmid pcDNA3 transfered DC and untreated DC,respectively. The number of adult worm and the egg number in the liver were calculated six weeks after challenging with the cercariae of Schistosoma japonicum. Results The rate of worm reduction and eggreduction in the group of Sj26 and Sj23 gene transfered DC was 40.5% and 58.9% respectively, hig her than that of the group of Sj26 gene transfered DC(34.5% and 48.5%)and Sj23 gene tr ansfered DC(32.6% and 40.6%),also significantly higher than that of group of plasmid pcDNA3 transfered DC(16.8% and 15.8%)and untreated DC(14.6% and 14.4%).There was significant difference of egg reduction rate between group of Sj26 tr ansfered DC and gr oup of Sj23 transfered DC.Conclusion The results indicate that Sj26 gene transfered DC can induce and enhance protective immunity against the infection of Schistosoma japonicum.
