Analysis on anemia status of children under 3 years old in rural area of Tibet

Objective To analyze the anemia status of children under 3 years old in rural Tibet of China.Methods Using PPS sampling method to investigate 1513 children under three years old in 4 regions,15 counties and 72 townships.Results The prevalence of anemia among the children was 37.8%.Prevalence of anemia was varying along with ages.The peak of anemia prevalence was at 12~24 months.And it decreased with the increasing of age.The prevalence of anemia was 52.5% above the height of 4 500 meters.Different gender and regions had different prevalence of anemia.The prevalence rate of the boys was higher than that of the girls(P<0.01).The related risk of anemia for the child with anemia mother was 2.005.The analysis of logistic regression showed that children's gender,mother anemia,stunting and differentheig hthad the significant relations to child anemia.Conclusion The feasible measures should beset down to decrease the prevalence of anemia.
