Abstract
Objective To investigate the pathogenicity of subtype 4a swine HEV in rhesus monkey. Methods Inoculate a rhesus monkey through intravenous injection with the subtype 4a swine hepatitis E vims (HEV)isolated from piglets fecal in Guangxi and identified by sequencing and evaluate its pathogenicity by detecting HEV RNA,semm ALT,anti-HEV and histopathological changes of liver biopsies. Results The infected monkeys had vims shedding, viraemia, elevated ALT and histopathological changes typical for acute vimal hepatitis. In addition, vims particles were observed under electron microscope. Conclusion Subtype 4a swine HEV could experin entally infect rhesus monkey and induce hepatitis E.
