Abstract
Objective To examine the correlation between blood pressure and body mass index(BMI)and fasting seruminsu lin(INS)in obese adolescents. Methods Sixty-five obese and 87 normal weitht adolescents were recruited.Height, weight, systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DB P),fasting serum INS were measured.BMI was caculated. Results The incidence rate(26.16%)of hype rtension in the obese group was higher than that(2.35%)of in the control group(P=0.000).The relative risk of hypertention incidence was 11.377 in the obese group. The average level serum INS in obese group was higher than that of in control group(26.87±11.57 m IU/L,16.34±5.28 m IU/L;P=0.000).Both SB P and DB P showed no correlation with IN S after controlling for BM I(P>0.05).Both SB P and DB P showed positive correlation with BM I after controlling for INS(P<0.05).Conclusion The risk of hypertension incidence is significantly higher in obese adolescents than that of in normal weight adolescents. Both systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure present positive correlation with body mass index and maybe have norelation with seruminsulin.
