Investigation on college students’ nutritive status and knowledge

  • Objective To learn the nutritive knowledge and dietary behaviors of college students,so as to provide the scientific basis for the improvement of their health.Methods Questionnares were distributed to 871 college students in Wuhan Polytechnic University to collect information on their nutritive knowledge.The students were divided into intervention group and non-intervention group.BMI was used to evaluate students' nutritive status.Results Among the students investigated,the ma lnutritive rate was 20.1% and the obeserate was 0.7%.There was a significant difference in malnutrition rate between male(13.5%)and female(24.8%).The average score of nutritive knowledge for college students was 29.22,belonging to good grade.The intervention group's average score was 31.48±3.22;the score of non-intervention group was 28.40±4.88;the difference was significant.And there was also a significant difference in awareness about dietary behaviors and disease kenwledge between the two groups.Conclusion In order to promote nutritive condition of colleges tudents,we shouds treng then the education on nutrition,improve meal quality in university and set diatary mode that suitable to college students'constitution.
