Evaluation on implementation of the first round global fund tuberculosis project in Fujian province

ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of the first round global fund tubercu losis(TB)program.MethodsThe quarter statements of the project unit from 2003 to 2008,the result of Fujian province TB human resources survey in 2007 and the data of project terminal evaluation were collected for the analysis.ResultsThe fund on TB increased yearly.From 2001 to 2007,the fund on TB was raised from RMB 45 thousands Yuan to RMB 2.436 millions Yuan(P<0.05).The TB human resources improved obviously.The number of TB staff increased to 190 from 140 previously,with a growth rate of 30%.After project implementation,TB control achieved the high finding and high curing for TB cases.In the five years, 13317 newsmear positive pulmonary TB cases were detected.The detection rate of newsmear positive pulmonary TB cases was increased from 53.6% in 2003 to 74.5% in 2005.From 2006 to 2007,the rate exceeded the national taret indicator (70%).The sputum negative conversion rate of newsmear positive pulmonary TB cases at two months was 88.8%,and the curerate was 91.1%.ConclusionThe first round global fund TB project promoted the implementation of Fujian provincial TB control programme.
