Serum uric acid level and related indicators of cardiovasular disease in Han and Uygur nationality

  • ObjectiveTo find the correlation of plasma uric acid levels and the related indicators of candiov ascular disease in Han and Uygur nationality in Xinjiang.MethodsThe blood samples of 498 subjects aged 20 to 70 years were collected from January to May 2006 in Urumchi and analyzed for uric acid(SUA),glycer in,total cholesterol, high density lipoprotein, low density lipoprotein.One-way analysis of variance was used to analyze data from people with different levels of serumuric acid.ResultsExcept the fasting blood glucose(FBS),all biochemical indexes were increased in Han and Uygur nationality, but HDLC showed a decresed trend(P<0.05).Except there was alow negative correlation between uric acid and HDLC(r=0.271),FBS and other biochemical indicators showed positive correlation with uric acid in Han nationality. The prevalence of obesity, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypertriglycer idemia, hypercho leste rolemia, and meta bolic syndyome showed a increasing trend with the SUA level increase(P<0.05).The prevalences of obesity and hypertriglycer idemia in Han people and all other diseases in the Uygur ethnic, except the diabetes mellitus, showed significant differences bewteen groups of subjects with different SUA levels.ConclusionExcept FBS,the serumuric acid level has same effects on cardio vascular disease indicators among Han and Uygur nationalities.SUA plays a role in the development of car diovascular disease in the general population.
