Investigation of work ability of workers in an island in south China

ObjectiveTo investigate the work ability of a crew in an island in south China.MethodsA cross sectional study inc luding 260 subjects and 140 controls was used to evaluate the work ability with a work ability index(WAI) questionnarie.ResultsThe WAI of the workers was 38.0±5.2,which showed no statistical difference with that of the controls(37.1±5.2).Work ability was ranked into four degrees according to WA,Iand the WAI composition of the two groups exhibited no statistical difference by Chi-spuare test.ConclusionThe hygienic services and labor safeguards were effective and should be maintained.
