Effectiveness of POL intervention on AIDS/STD related knowledge in MSM groups

ObjectiveTo explore effective approach of intervention in MSM (man who have sex with men) group.MethodsHealth education and behavial intervention on AIDS/STD were conducted among MSM groups with the adapting of popular opinion leader(POL)model and the network propagada and expanded service Responder driven sampling was used to collect participants in Dec 2006, July 2007 and Jan 2008, respectively for the intervention evaluation.ResultsTotally 201 MSM satbaseline, 200 atmidteun and 203 at the end of intervention were surveyed The awareness rate of the basis knowledge of AIDS and STD was 68.6%,76.6,83.70,respectively.The subjective confidence on safty of condom use in different situation was 49.1%,62.3,62.9,respectively.The persistent usagemte of condom in the latest sexual.activity with different sexual partners was 56.2%,72.8%,82.1%,respectivaly,with significant increase trend(P<0.05).ConclusionThrough one year in tervention of POL model,the knowledge of AIDS/STD and the usage rate of condom were effectively increased among the target MSMs group.
