Foodborne diseases in Minhang district, Shanghai, 2006-2007

  • Objective To understand the status of foodborne diseases in Minhang district,Shanghai for taking effective intervention measures.Methods The registered records of diarrhea patients in outpatient service of intestinal diseases in five foodborne diseases monitoring sites and theirm onthly report foun 2006-2007 were analyzed.Results The detecting rate in Zhuanqiao region was the highest(9.65%),following with those in Qibao (6.95%)and the fifth hospital of Shanghai (6.70 %).For anal swabs samples,the detecting rate of Shigella spp,Sahonella spp and Vibrio parahaemolyticus was 5.74%,with which Vibrio parahaemolyticus was the highest (3.75%).There were more diarrhea patients in summer and autumn than in winter and spring.The patients from May to October covered 90.88% of all the reported cases.The number of patients in August was the highest,and the detecting rate of pathogens inAugustwas the highest(9.31%).In all suspected food samples,the detecting rate of sea foods was the highest(12.56%),and fo llowed by the freshwater food,meat and meat products.Conclusion It s necessary to establish foodborne diseases monitoring network and to report monitoring data in tine And the clinical diagnostic ability should be enhanced,the ability of detecting and sampling needs to be inproved.The cooperation of relative deparhnents should be strengthened.
