Anti-fatigue effect of er-zhi-wan herbal tea in male mice

  • Objective To study anti-fatigue effect of er-zhi-wan herbal tea in male mice. Methods One hundred and sixty male Kunming mice were randomly divided in to normal control group, low, medium, and high dosage er-zhi-wan herbal tea group. The mice were orally administe red with er-zhi-wan herbal tea in low, medium, and high dosage, respectively, for 30 days. Then the experiment was conducted according to the "Health Food Function Evaluation Procedures and Test Methods" published by the Ministry of Health. Results The mean time of load swimming of the mice in medium and high dosage er-zhi-wan herbal tea groups was significantly prolonged(medium dosage:13.29±4.51 min, high dosage:16.21±7.01min).The serumurea nitrogen level of mice in high dosage er-zhi-wan berbal tea group was significeantly lower than that of the control group(6.87±1.39 vs 10.49±3.29 mmol/L)after load swimming and the glycogen in liver in high dosage group was significan tly higher than that of control group(9.43±2.40 vs 6.22±0.59 mg/gliver tissue). The serum lacticacid of mice in high dosage er-zhi-wan herbal tea group was significantly decreased compared to that of the control group. Conclusion The find ings suggest that er-zhi-wan herbal tea has anti-fatigue effect in male Kunming mice.
